The property coverage of homeowners policies, dwelling policies, and mobilehome policies provides protection for the common exposures faced by the typical household. These policies, however, contain exclusions and limitations for some types of personal property.  Such exclusions to loss include such items as jewelry, watches, furs, silverware, fine arts, and guns.
Inland marine policies can be used amend many of these coverage limitations. These policies are often called "floaters" because they cover "floating" property - property that is typically subject to movement from place to place.
Personal Property Floater (PAF)
The personal articles floater (PAF) is a separate policy containing coverage on up to nine optional classes of personal property. When PAF coverage is added to a homeowners policy, it is done through the scheduled personal property endorsement Personal Articles Floater (PAF). Because this endorsement is “scheduled” property to be covered is listed and sent to the underwriter for review and record.
The PAF can combine up to nine classes of property under one policy.  The nine classes of personal property are:

• Jewelry
• Furs
• Cameras
• Musical instruments
• Silverware and goldware
• Golfer's equipment
• Fine arts
• Stamp collections
• Coin collections

Personal Property Floater
In contrast to the personal articles floater (PAF), the PPF provides "special" coverage on unscheduled personal property. Coverage resembles Coverage C of a homeowners policy with a special personal property coverage endorsement attached.
Personal Effects Floater
The personal effects floater (PEF) is designed for individuals and families who desire to insure their personal belongings (baggage) while traveling anywhere in the world.
